I am a true weather "geek" who is passionate about all things related to the atmosphere, space, and the environment. Growing up in the Midwest, allowed that passion to develop and I was able to experience nearly every type of extreme of weather. If it wasn't in my backyard, I'd venture out to find it! Go figure, I love a good snowstorm and am in awe whenever I get a glance of a towering cumulonimbus. Weather safety and education motivates me to be my best every day. I take every opportunity possible to remind the public how to be weather aware and how to protect their families during life threatening events. Yes, I am the lady at the swimming pool that makes everyone get out and leave when there is lightning and the Mom on the soccer field telling the umpire they better clear the place out as bad weather approaches (truth!)... But, I have been to the disaster zone many times, and I am never numb to the impact weather has on people's lives and how everything can change in seconds. In addition to weather, I am an outdoor enthusiast. You can find me mountain biking, hiking, gardening, running, playing kickball with the kids, or doing cartwheels in my yard. Seriously. I am hopelessly in love with my family. My wonderful husband, Mike, has been my best friend since college (Go Cyclones!) and God has blessed us with two beautiful, smart, and healthy kids. My oldest, Aurora, is named after the stunning Northern Lights, aka, Aurora Borealis. Ashton, my youngest, is my biggest fan and athlete.
